The Best Hardware - see the difference!

We have state of the art hardware to get the best possible results. For example; for films we use Nikon professional film scanners incorporating Digital ICE. See the potential for yourselves, send us 3~4 frames and we will scan them for free, then send you the results so that you can see the MMC difference on your own photographs.

Click on the images to zoom in. Note the flatbed scanner is essentially max'ed out with all the options deployed to display the best possible result.  However the Nikon scanner has ample headroom left, still with flexibility to deploy grain reduction etc..  Even just using ICE, the details and sharpness are clearly more apparent which would also be duplicated in any photo prints.

The Latest Software - hear the difference!

In addition to the best hardware, we have the latest software. For example, our CD ripping software uses in built C2 error and Jitter detection. All errors are corrected before encoding. This means that you will never hear errors in your ripped CD collection. If the errors cannot be successfully corrected, the track will be rejected. As a demonstration we have ripped a scratched CD using some popular Media Players (with error correction enabled when available), ripped it again using our solution and then extracted the same passage from the mp3 files.. Hear the difference!

We do this for a living and know the pitfalls but more importantly, the solutions

Have you ever ripped a bunch of CDs only to find Album art is either missing or just plain wrong?, or track names are a mixture of capitals and lower case, or worse, your media player rearranges everything, renaming and separating tracks from perfectly good albums? These are some of the pitfalls when digitizing. Thankfully there are solutions, for example we get your CD album art and information from licensed Metadata providers. Our software checks the track information to ensure Artist / Album consistency. We apply capitalisation rules to rename tracks. These are just some of the little things that add up to provide the best possible service without you enduring the painful lessons.

The Time involved

Digitizing your collection will be time consuming! The average CD rip takes 5 minutes (load, look up meta data, rip, unload), then another 5 minutes to correct art and tagging errors. Scanning films and slides realistically 3 minutes / frame (load, preview & scan, unload), then another minute or two tweaking it in a photo editor. Converting your old vinyl LPs is the playing time + the same time again filtering, separating & tagging the individual tracks. Capturing a video is the length of the video + the same again adding well placed chapters for a DVD production.

Say your collection contains ~20 films, ~150 CDs & ~12 video tapes, this equates to 121 hours. Assuming your really keen (at least in the beginning) and plan to devote 2 hours a night to this project, 5 days a week until finished. Set aside 12 weeks!  Alternatively, just call us and go and do something else instead!
